Our theme for November was the Birthday Party. We had fun learning about the months of the year. We learned the date of our birthdays.We made birthday balloons for each month of the year and stuck our photos on the month we were born.

We read the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. We enjoyed making tiger masks.
We wrote about the story..

We played birthday card games.We had fun adding to totals of  6 and 7. We recorded our work on mini white boards.

October

Our Aistear theme for October was The Garden. We completed lots of fun projects.  We visited Vaughan's Garden Centre. We saw lots of interesting flowers,plants and trees.

We planted  bulbs in school. The garden will be beautiful in Spring.

Back to School

We came back to school in late August after a long summer holiday. We have been very busy settling in. There are 26 children in Senior Infants and First Class. Our Aistear theme for September was Home. We learned a lot about Homes during the month. It is fun being back in school.

Science Exhibition

Can and egg float?
Senior Infants and First Class had great fun at the  Science Exhibition in the hall on Tuesday. The class was divided into five groups. Each group dressed up as scientists and took turns going into the hall to show parents and the children from other classes how the  experiment worked. 

The children learned that an egg doesn't float in ordinary water but when salt is added it floats. The children made links to similarities between the egg floating and what happens when people visit the Dead Sea.!!!! 

Café

 Our theme for February was the café. We set up seniors' Café in our classroom. Grandparents came to visit the café on Grandparents' Day.

The painting lesson

Our theme for January was the Painting lesson. We learned all about two famous painters, Degas and Van Gogh. We painted portraits of each other at the easels.

Literacy Lift off

Senoir Infants took part in a literacy lift off programme for a period of 6 weeks. They enjoyed reading new books at the reading table. They learned to write sentences at the writing table.
